A firm spicy favourite that packs a punch.
A household staple in the chilli department, fantastic to grow and whilst the green peppers taste almost like a veggie, the red has a sweeter flavour and is often smoked or pickled.
Jalapeño chillies, belonging to the capsicum family, exhibit a range of heat from moderate to very hot. Originally from South America, these chillies measure approximately 4cm in length and are initially dark green, turning scarlet when fully ripe. They are commonly sold in both fresh and tinned forms. When dried and smoked, they transform into chipotle, offering a deep and sweet flavour with hints of chocolate. Pickled chipotles are also available for those seeking a different culinary experience.
