William Shakespeare (1565-1616) a playwright, poet and writer who lived within the parish of the Cathedral is considered to be the greatest writer in the English language.
This panel taken from the Shakespeare window situated in the south aisle of the Cathedral shows characters from Shakespeare's tragedies; Romeo and Juliet, Richard II, Richard III, Othello, King Lear, Lady Macbeth and Hamlet.
